Singularity: A book of poems for the most part

This book is mostly a collection of poems written between 2004 and 2008 when I was living in Cairo, Egypt, where I am from. Something is to be said about the transformative power of poetics: sublimating suffering through catharsis into something else. Writing and reading poetry is enjoyable because it is about experiencing the pleasure of healing pain through language, in this case. But ultimately, poetry is useless, which is to say it is inherently anticapitalist. The value of poetry has nothing to do with the monetary value of a given commodity. As such, it is a pure form of enjoyment beyond economic exchange. Does this make poetry political? Certainly, if we agree that "the personal is political."
